Summer Stuff

Summer is coming up! What are you going to do? I am practically going to live up at the pool this year, what with friends, swim team, and the hot weather. Try going outside. For earth day, I went up to the festival my school holds, and got a dogwood tree seedling! It is already growing leaves and getting tall. If you don't know what to do outside, here are some earth-friendly ideas:
Instead of buying a fun sprinkler to keep cool, reuse a 1 liter bottle! All you have to do is poke some different sized holes at or towards the bottom! Then, you take the hose and hang it so the part where the water comes out is facing down. Put the hose inside the bottle(tape it a little to help it stay), turn the hose on, and enjoy the soggy fun!
You could also build something fun! If you have a small, sturdy tree with low branches, try building a swing, or a fort! With some leftover rope(stong rope), and some wood, you could make a swing! Make sure it can hold a reasonable amount of weight, though. You don't want to find out it couldn't hold more than 2 pounds after you get on it! Also, you could make a fort. Start with a roof, and let you imagination take you from there! Watch out for when it rains! If you have things like a doll or some tacked up pictures in there, take them down so they don't get soaked(that's what the sprinkler is for)!
Lastly, if you want to get some energy out, and was told you couldn't do it inside, make an obstacle course! If you have some hoolahoops, you could make someone build a castle, or jump in and out of them! Then, if you have some chairs and a big blanket, you could crawl through a tunnel! With very little materials, you can still make a great obstacle course!
So, I hope these ideas help entertain you over the summer!

Bullying

Bullying is a serious problem. It happens everyday. The word 'bully' is thrown around freely, but you know when you are really getting bullied. Standbys are a problem to. Are you that person who sees someone get pushed down, but not the one to help them back up, or get help, just because you don't want to make a big deal out of it. That person getting pushed down probably thought it was a big deal.  Ask yourself 'do I really help'?

The upcoming year

One day, I was watching Project Runway Allstars. It got me thinking; what will the hottest color and trend of 2014 be? Will it be pink and color blocking, or will it be sky blue and pantsuits? I bet all of you have a different idea of what it will be. I think that bright red and jean jackets will be popular. Many things will be new in 2014. Styles, colors, trends, you name it! I can't wait for the new year to see what will be fresh and new! Ask yourself what you think will be in the spotlight next year. I can't wait to find out!

In Or Out?

I don't get "in" things. One day somebody mentions something, the next day, everything related to that is sold out in stores, then they soon become "out". like Uggs. The most popular girl in school is wearing them, and shows them off. Then, every kid is begging every possible penny out of their parents to get the Uggs. I mean no offense to the Ugg company, or the girls who do what i just typed above, its just my opinion. Some people may have reasons to get that item, too. not just to be popular like the others, and keep their rankings up. May be it's because they've always wanted them. Yeah, i may ask my parents for something someone at school is wearing, but i always check by asking this: would i still have this in public when they go "out". i'm sorry if you don't agree with me, and take this personally, but those who don't, it's good to be different. now, i'm not saying that to be different, you have to throw away your Uggs right now, just that you don't always have to blend in.

The Greenest our School Gets Is the Hotdogs

Well, my school is always big about being a "green" school, and we've got one thing going for us; green hot dogs. If you are smart, you would pack your own lunch, or have leftovers, ANYTHING other than buying a hot lunch.Well, if the lunch is still hot. Obviously, the orange chicken nuggets are out. The oily pizza is a positive no. So that leaves the popcorn chicken bought from KFC. The choices for some healthy fruits or vegatables is way far from healthy. The baked beans are more bean juice with a side of beans, instead of beans with a side of bean juice. Cucumbers are normally my favorite, but after seeing my school's rotten ones, I've kinda changed my mind. Oooh, this sounds appetizing!...a bloody orange! On to the drinks.about an inch tall, half filled carton of juice, some warm milk too! Man, I know our school isn't the richest out there, but I swear this stuff can kill us!!!! Woo hoo...... dessert. Some pretty......interesting choices. Melted ice cream, rock hard cookies, old chips......delicious! So, the only thing that keeps my school passing the health inspection, is that there are no health inspections. If there was, this school would have been shut down before I was born. So, if I were you, a school made lunch isn't  the best choice, cause you might as well just go to KFC, since our school sells their food, cause at least it would be warm.
